These are the wheel-to-wheel rules on Initial G servers. They follow the same ideas Formula 1 uses.
Read them before you race. Admins judge every incident from the replay.
Defending on a straight
- You can make one move to defend your place. Pick a side and stay there.
- A second move is weaving. Weaving to break the slipstream, or to block the car behind again, is not allowed.
Braking zones
- Choose your line before you brake. Once you start braking, keep that line.
- Do not move left or right under braking. That includes moving back toward the middle after you have already covered one side.
- The driver behind is allowed to go for the gap you left. If you close that gap while both of you are braking, you moved under braking.
Leave room
If you move off the racing line to defend, leave at least one car width between you and the edge of the track when you come back. The other driver needs that space to stay on the track.
Who gets the corner
Inside line: the corner is yours if, at the apex:
- your front wheels are at least level with the other car’s mirror, and
- you can get through the corner with all four wheels on the track.
The other driver has to give you space.
Outside line: the corner is yours if, at the apex:
- you are next to the other car, and
- you can stay on the track on the way out.
The driver on the inside has to leave you space on the exit.
Not alongside: if your front wheels are still behind their mirror at the apex, it is their corner. Lift and try again at the next one.
Side by side: both cars hold a steady line. If you turn into the other car, the contact is yours.
Late lunges
- If you come from too far back and the only way to make the corner is to leave the track or hit the other car, that is on you.
- If you come out in front, give the place back.
- The first corner on lap 1 works the same way. A full grid does not change the rule.
Track limits
- The white line is the edge of the track.
- If all four wheels go past it and you gain time or a position, give the place back.
- Lift on the next straight, before the next braking zone, and let them through. Do not brake in front of them while you do it.
Coming back on the track
- Rejoin only when there is space, and pointing the same way as the traffic.
- If you turn across someone who is already on the racing line, you caused the crash.
- If you gained time or a place by going off, give it back.
Blue flags
- If a faster car behind you wants to unlap, let them through at the next place where you both fit.
- Hold your line. Do not fight a car that is a lap ahead of you.
Contact
The driver in front can defend with one move, and that move has to be finished before the braking zone. After that, the driver behind has to judge the gap.
It is the rear driver’s fault if they run into the back of the car ahead because they braked too late.
It is the front driver’s fault if they:
- move while braking, or
- turn into you when you are already alongside.
Leave a clear gap. On a public server the other car is often closer than it looks.
Penalties
Admins watch the replay and decide. Depending on what you gained and whether you did it on purpose, you can get:
- a warning
- a time penalty
- a disqualification
- a ban from daily racing
